We have partnered with a well-regarded and established Austin-based creative business in its search for an Accounting Manager. This individual will serve as the hands-on, go-to Accountant within a small, thriving service company with a 30-year track record of success. The Accounting Manager will report to the VP of Finance and oversee one Accounting Assistant, while utilizing QuickBooks to perform full-cycle accounting, prepare financial statements, and lead process improvements. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced, stable, and reputable company in a key position.
Job duties will include, although not be limited to:
- Hands-on oversight of monthly and quarterly financial close processes
- Maintenance of the General Ledger, including accounting for daily transactions, journal entry preparation, accruals, and key account reconciliations
- Preparing complex and detailed invoices for key clients while managing the Billing process and overseeing Accounts Receivable
- Overseeing Accounts Payable and Payroll, while monitoring Cash Flow and related Cash accounts
- Working closely with the external CPA firm on Sales Tax reporting and other Tax items
- Responding to ad-hoc requests including project audits for key clients, periodic COGS analysis, and ad-hoc reporting for Leadership team
- Leading special projects such as the enhancement of QuickBooks utilization, process improvements related to Invoicing & Billing, and teambuilding initiatives
To be considered, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Five or more (5+) years of relevant Accounting experience within a small or mid-sized business
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting although other fields may be considered, depending on experience
- Proven experience utilizing QuickBooks (Online version is a plus)
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a team-oriented mentality
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally while leading accounting process improvements
- A hands-on, start-to-finish mentality, coupled with the desire and ability to take on new challenges
